John Cushing has been representing individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries and families who have lost loved ones due to the negligence or wrongful conduct of others for nearly four decades. His clients include automobile, trucking and train crash victims, people injured at work and at construction sites, and victims of defective pharmaceutical drugs, defective and dangerous products, and medical negligence. He has extensive trial experience in both state and federal court in jurisdictions throughout the United States, and many of his clients are referred by other lawyers who recognize his abilities and accomplishments and trust their clients in his hands.
His aggressive and focused approach to litigation has resulted in numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients. Most notable was his involvement in securing a $21 million award awarded to the family of a Cicero woman who died as the result of a defective pain medication patch by two subsidiaries of Johnson & Johnson.
Many of John’s victories have extended beyond the courtroom and have helped bring about changes for the community as a whole. Here a sample of how John has worked to improve safety of the lives of all of us: John obtained a wrongful death verdict on behalf of the family of a young nursing student who was brutally assaulted and murdered on a CTA platform. As a result of Johns work on this case the CTA implemented new security measures so that dangerous criminals would no longer be able to use CTA facilities to perpetrate their crimes.
As a result of John’s victory against Johnson & Johnson, the pharmaceutical manufacture discontinued its use of transdermal patches as the delivery system for their pain medication Fentanyl. Johnson & Johnson has since switched to a delivery system that will prevent other unsuspecting patients and their families from unintended overdoses resulting in death. Johns long sustained track record of success has earned him the respect of his peers throughout the legal community. John has bee recognized as a Super Lawyer by Illinois Super Lawyers.
